Trip planning

Weather calls the shots

Travis makes the plan with the forecast, the tides and the freshest reports for your date.

On the calendar

Trips run three hours to a full day.

Trip lengths from Travis's own listing. Exact times and prices are on FishingBooker.

3 hrs

Three-hour trip

The quick hit. Steady action, and back before anyone's tired of it. The go-to for young kids and first-timers.

4 hrs

Four-hour trip

More time to run to better water. Morning and midday starts, and Travis lists a sunset trip that chases striped bass into the dark.

5 hrs

Half day

The most-booked trip on the calendar. A real session on the water, with time to move if the first spot's slow.

8 hrs

Full day

The whole spread, bay to blue water. This is how the serious days happen: dedicated shark trips, offshore runs, the fish you get the camera out for.

Not sure which one? Call (631) 987-3218 and ask.

What we fish for

The season out of Shinnecock, roughly.

The boat runs May through October. Seasons and limits change every year, so nothing here is a promise.

Spring · May and June

Striped bass, bluefish, early fluke

The bass arrive hungry and the season's on. Fluke fishing picks up in the bay as the water warms.

Summer · July and August

Fluke, black sea bass, porgies, weakfish

Steady fishing day after day, and the easiest stretch for kids. Offshore, shark and tuna trips run when the weather opens a window.

Fall · September and October

Striped bass, sea bass, bluefish

The fall run. Bass feed hard along the beaches before heading south. A lot of people around here will tell you it's the best fishing of the year.

Species from Travis’s public listings and the catches on @anna_maria_charters. Sharks are mostly a fight-and-release deal these days, and the fight is the point.

Planning

What to ask before you book.

  1. What trip fits the youngest or greenest angler coming?
  2. What’s been biting lately, and what’s realistic for our date?
  3. What’s included in the listed price for this trip?
  4. What should we bring, and what should we leave home?
  5. How do weather calls work the day before?
